After carefully planning our upcoming events and exhibitions we're finally ready give you some details about them.
Upcoming Exhibitions
Our upcoming exhibitions are a mix of solo-artists and local groups coming together to exhibit their work. Each exhibition runs for approximately four weeks, with the exception of the Young Contemporaries which runs for two weeks. Below are our first 5 exhibitions for 2018:
- Beyond The Lens with Happy World Photography. 9th March - 6th April
- Over and Over and Over Again by Chesterfield Embroiderer's Guild. 13th April - 11th May
- Young Contemporaries 2018. 11th May - 25th May
- Derbyshire Young Artist Of The Year. 8th June - 29th June
- Big Heads by John King. 6th July - 3rd Aug
Our Open Exhibition will be returning later this year, running from Friday 7th to Saturday 29th September. Over the next couple of months we will be releasing a call-out for artists to submit their work to be in the exhibition. There is a £10 charge for Artists to submit their work into this exhibition.
Open Studios and Young Contemporaries
Come down and take a look round the artists and makers studios to see how they create their work.
This years Open Studios, an event we're run yearly with our tenants, will happen over the second weekend of May (Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th May 2018).
You'll be able to come down and see the studios our tenants work from, see demonstrations and book onto workshops. There will also be the opportunity to buy work directly from the tenants from their studios. Running alongside the Open Studios will be the Young Contemporaries exhibition. The Young Contemporaries are a collection of Chesterfield College Students who come together to plan, curate and advertise their own exhibition. Some of the Young Contemporaries will be around the weekend of the Open Studios to discuss their work and where they got their inspiration.
PC Clinic
Thursday Mornings, 9am until 12pm, you have the opportunity to receive expert advice and a repair service for PCs, tables, and phones in the West Studios Gallery-Shop.
This is a Chesterfield College student run digital company lead by tutor, Piers Ching, who has taken the lead on the 2018 relaunch as a great way to offer an expert service at a discounted rate. Enquiries and pre-bookings for the service are taken on 01246 500799 or hello@weststudios.co.uk.
Summer Market
This year our Summer Market will be happening on Saturday 11th August and will be our biggest market yet! We're expanding outside so we're able to have more stalls, a performance by a local youth theatre and a hot food van.
Stallholder application details will be announced over the next couple weeks and further details about this event will be announced over next few months.
