Junction Arts has a guaranteed London Marathon 2021 charity place for one runner! We are looking for you! Scheduled to take place on Sunday 3rd October, get in touch now to find out how to run for Junction Arts!

Junction Arts uses the arts to change lives, tackling health and wellbeing issues, isolation, poverty and equality across NE Derbyshire.  By running for them you will help raise vital funds to help more people create a better life.

So, challenge yourself in 2021 whilst supporting crucial projects like Home Comforts for those who have been increasingly isolated over this last 12 months.

In times of stress and worry, getting creative can be a positive way to give us a break to relax and unwind. We believe taking just 30 minutes for yourself a day to do some drawing, collaging or colouring can improve your wellbeing and give your mind a rest ready to tackle the next challenge. 

One of our aims as a charity is to offer easy access to the arts for everyone. On the Junction Arts website you can find a number of art activities for all ages to enjoy at home. 

Our most popular at home art project of 2020 ‘Voyage of Discovery’ (Discover Arts Award) is available for ages 5-25 for free. Find out more here.

Online Shop

That’s right, we’ve finally launched an online shop! Over the past few weeks we have been hard at work setting up our Etsy store. We currently have a limited selection of items available in the store with more to be added soon. All items are made by small businesses and local artists from Chesterfield and the surrounding areas.

We aim to post out stock in 1-3 working days* of purchase by second class post.

As this is a new venture for us we are constantly reviewing our system to ensure it works as efficiently as possible and apreciate you bearing with us during any teething issues.

Let us know the type of items from our physical shop that you would like to be available online.

Venue Hire

Whether you are celebrating an occasion, want a large space to hold a dance class or simply need a professional environment to conduct a meeting, the Chesterfield College Group has a range of contemporary spaces to accommodate a variety of needs.

Get in touch now to provisionally book one of our meeting spaces for after lockdown. We are currently offering 20% off of our standard meeting rooms and there’s no cancellation fee if the event is unable to go ahead to due to covid-19. You will only be invoiced once the event has taken place.

Hope at Home Workshop

Twisted Spires

In November 2020 Twisted Spires was voted the winner of the Prestige Awards for WEB DESIGNER OF THE YEAR – DERBYSHIRE – CENTRAL ENGLAND

The judges were impressed with Twisted Spires personal touch, consistency of reviews and overall attentiveness, helping small business owners transition online at the start of the lockdown in March last year and all the way through the year with the acknowledgement that they go over and above for their clients.

Campus Closed - Stakeholder Update

Information for Students/Apprentices/Parents/Carers/Employers

Following the announcement of the closure of all schools and colleges in England until at least February half term (W/C 15 February 2021), all students and apprentices will undertake their learning online/remotely. The college will be closed to all students/apprentices with the exception of vulnerable students and/or those with higher needs who have requested access to have face to face learning.

Make sure to come down and browse the West Studios shop to find some unique and handmade gifts! From ceramic items to Jewellery to an excellent range of greeting cards, West Studios has a great selection of gifts, all produced by small businesses and independent artists.

We have reduced public opening during December so make sure to come during the below opening times!

CREATING A TOGETHERNESS - AN EXHIBITION BY ARTS AND MINDS

The video in the link below was created as part of ‘Creating a Togetherness’, an exhibition by Arts and Minds that should have taken place at West Studios back in March!

It is a powerful reminder of why art is needed in today’s society, what it can do for vulnerable people’s mental health and why it’s important for us to come together as a community and continue to support each other.

Peter Swailes Ceramics

Peter is one of the ceramicists based within West Studios. His latest collection is a variety of pots with animals and mythical creatures on them. You can purchase one of these amazing pieces via Peter’s Etsy page.

Junction Arts

Junction Arts is the driving force behind annual local events such as the Tapton Lock Festival and the Bolsover Lantern Parade. Their events give people the opportunity to come together, to support one another and celebrate their communities. In a year of increased isolation and loneliness, Junction Arts has worked throughout with schools, care homes and community groups to bring the opportunity of conversation and friendship when people have needed it most.

“Now more than ever the arts have a crucial role to play in helping people’s health and wellbeing. Taking part in the arts activities with others is an opportunity to be social, escape reality, be creative, learn new skills, make new friends, feel part of a community.” Jane, Junction Arts Project Coordinator

Starting on #GivingTuesday, from 12noon on 1st December 2020, we are asking you to help Junction Arts raise £4000 through their Big Give Christmas Challenge. For one week only your donations could be doubled increasing your impact on those left most vulnerable this year.

Donations must be made using the website: https://bit.ly/2K11mLI during the week from 12noon Tuesday 1st December until 12noon Tuesday 8th December to have the donation doubled. This money will be invested back into our communities to bring hope and new opportunities into 2021.

Some examples of what your donations could mean:

£10 pays for an at home family arts activity pack

£50 pays for a remembrance session at a care home who have not seen their family

£200 pays for an artist led online workshop and materials to a community group of isolating people
